  • Two weeks ago I wrote the Silverlight 3 WriteableBitmap Performance blog post and got some good response on it. One of it came from the author of Quakelight, Julien Frelat.
HLSL enables threads of a compute shader to exchange values via shared memory. HLSL provides barrier primitives such as GroupMemoryBarrierWithGroupSync, and so on to ensure the correct ordering of reads and writes to shared memory in the shader and to avoid data races.

malloc () is used to dynamically allocate a single block of memory in C, it is available in the header file stdlib.h. sizeof () is used to determine size in bytes of an element in C. Here it is used to determine size of each node and sent as a parameter to malloc. The above code will create a node with data as value and next pointing to NULL.

If I store the sample_sphere array out of the ps_ssao method, the resulting shader draws as if the values sampled from it were float3(0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f), ie: if the array was filled with float3(0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f) Is it better to store an array in a method or outside ? (I would say the 2nd is better but I'm no expert)
